CURRENTLY...
Roxanne is co-director for the new series Máxima (Millstreet Films) and her new film Deining is now in post production. It tells the story of Nola (8) who wants to be seen by her father. Nola and her father spend the day together at the seaside and are trying to grow closer. But when his selfish, embarrassing behavior is hurting her once again, Nola turns the tables and brutally teaches her father a lesson …


Her film DIENSTMEID #2, which she and writer & director Kurt Platvoet wrote, premiered at Nederlands Film Festival in September 2021. The film was awarded with Best Drama at Imagine This Women's International Film Festival, New York City 2022 and Best Drama at Women Over 50 Film Festival in Sussex UK 2022. Lead actress Maike Meijer won Mr. Zee Best Acting at Shortcutz Annual Awards 2023 held in Amsterdam. Her short film Say My Name premiered at the Oakville Filmfestival 2023. With four young woman she created this film through workshops telling one of their very own stories.


Besides her own projects, she recently worked as a researcher for Occupied City, a documentary based on the book Atlas van een Bezette Stad, Amsterdam 1940-1945 by Bianca Stigter, directed by Steve McQueen. This four and a half hour documentary premiered at Cannes Film Festival in 2023.


BEFORE...

Roxanne worked as creative assistant director & second unit director for the international series Heirs of The Night (International Emmy® Award Nominee), FENIX (Shariff Korver, KPN, Netflix) and the feature PENOZA the final chapter (Diederik van Rooijen). In 2019 she worked as creative assistant director & acting coach on the feature film I Don't Wanna Dance (Flynn von Kleist) and Zee van Tijd (Theu Boermans). In 2020 she worked as an assistant to Steve McQueen for Small Axe (BBC, Amazon) during post-production and as creative assistant director on Pink Moon (Floor van der Meulen) besides writing and developing her own projects.

Her short film BULLSHIT starring Eva Laurenssen was screened in 2019 & 2020 at Rotterdams Open Doek, Rialto for Short, Fête de la Femme, Cultuurnacht Breda and part of Kyiv International Film Festival 2021. The film was available at Cinetree.

 

BEFORE THAT...

Roxanne Stam (1988) graduated in 2012 as a theatre director & teacher from AHK, Amsterdam School of the Arts. She then worked for, among others, Toneelgroep Amsterdam (ITA), AHK, Jeugdtheaterschool Zuid-Oost and DEGASTEN. She founded BoLo Belooft, a community theatre project with, by and for the people of Bos en Lommmer (Amsterdam West) where she used to live herself. On Curaçao, she directed theatre performances in 2012 and 2014 with local youth at Luna Blou/La Tentashon and gave several theatre workshops on the island. As an acting coach for film, she previously worked with the young cast of A'dam - E.V.A., KLEM, De Ludwigs, Het Herriehofje and Vechtershart.
